Medics were urgently called to assist N-Dubz singer Tulisa during a Bushtucker trial on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after a terrifying ordeal left her convinced an insect had burrowed into her ear. The dramatic incident, which occurred during the Shock Around The Clock trial, was not aired on the show but was later confirmed by ITV representatives, reported by the Daily Record.
The 36-year-old faced the trial alone, where she was surrounded by a swarm of insects while being moved around a giant clock. Midway through the trial, Tulisa panicked, believing a bug had crawled into her ear canal. Medics were called in immediately to assess the situation.
“Tulisa was convinced something was in her ear – she wasn’t sure if it was a cockroach, cricket, or fly – and had to have a syringe wash,” an insider told The Sun. “She carried on after that, but she was horrified.”
ITV confirmed that Tulisa received medical attention during the challenge and managed to complete it despite the unsettling experience. After her ear was flushed, she pressed on with the trial, ultimately securing five out of a possible twelve stars to bring food back to camp.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Tulisa admitted, “When I was in there, my brain just wouldn’t function, it just went blank. I was just trying to survive.”
The singer had been voted into the trial by the public following a previous challenge where she struggled and screamed throughout. This time, her anxiety was compounded by the insect scare, prompting her to repeatedly tell hosts Ant and Dec, “Just get it over with!”
While Tulisa’s perseverance was notable, some viewers took issue with Ant and Dec’s involvement during the trial. In a segment requiring the use of the phonetic alphabet, Tulisa appeared stumped. Ant hinted at the answer for ‘G’ by saying, “When you get pulled over by the police…” referencing ‘Golf,’ while Dec added, “Sport… when you use clubs and a ball.”
This assistance didn’t sit well with fans, who voiced their frustrations on social media platform X. One viewer complained, “Why are Ant and Dec trying to help Tulisa?!” Another remarked, “Who’s answering the questions in this trial, Ant and Dec or Tulisa?”
Despite the criticism, Tulisa’s determination to finish the trial after her frightening experience earned her some admiration, though she remained visibly shaken by the ordeal.
