Lorraine Kelly Shares Warning from Rebekah Vardy Over ‘Wagatha Christie’ Trial

ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly revealed on her show that she was warned against discussing the sensational “Wagatha Christie” trial, reported by the Mirror. The 2022 legal battle between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy resurfaced in headlines following Coleen’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity.

During Tuesday’s episode of Lorraine, the host explained that the show’s lawyers advised her not to use the term “Wagatha Christie” without caution, as it’s owned by Vardy. Speaking to reporter Rishi Davda, Lorraine said: “Now this is very serious, Rishi. We’ve had some advice from our lawyers that we can’t actually say Wagatha Christie”, according to the Daily Mail.

She added humorously: “Every time we say Wagatha Christie, we have to pay Rebekah Vardy a pound.” Her comments were met with laughter as Davda joked, “I don’t know the going rate actually.” Lorraine proposed finding an alternative, with Davda suggesting they abbreviate it to “WC.”

The warning came after Coleen Rooney opened up about the infamous trial on I’m A Celebrity. During Monday’s episode, Coleen referred to the ordeal as her “worst nightmare,” revealing the emotional toll it took. “I just didn’t think it would have the impact it did,” she admitted to her fellow campmates. “I was just that sick and tired of it. It was draining.”

She also reflected on the court proceedings, saying, “That was my worst nightmare to go to court. I felt like it was putting on a show for the whole world.” Fellow campmate Dean questioned who owns the rights to the term “Wagatha Christie,” prompting Coleen to chuckle, while Jane Moore from Loose Women clarified, “That’s a whole other… she does.”

The trial initially stemmed from Coleen’s accusation that Rebekah Vardy leaked stories about her to the press. Vardy denied the claims and sued for libel, but the court ruled the allegations were “substantially true.”

The renewed buzz around the case has added to the drama surrounding I’m A Celebrity, with Coleen’s candid comments offering viewers deeper insight into the high-profile dispute.

Meanwhile, Lorraine’s lighthearted approach to the legal advisory showcased her ability to navigate sensitive topics while keeping her audience entertained.
