Eamonn Holmes Announces ‘Summer Holiday’ Break After GB News Absence

Eamonn Holmes has confirmed he’s taking a “summer holiday” following speculation about his absence from the GB News line-up on Monday. Holmes, who usually co-hosts the show with Isabel Webster from Monday to Wednesday, was notably missing from the latest broadcast, sparking curiosity among viewers.

Instead of Holmes, fans were greeted by GB News regular Nana Akua, who stepped in to co-host alongside Webster. No official explanation was given for Holmes’ absence during the broadcast, as Nana and Webster seamlessly took over the day’s headlines.

Addressing the rumors himself, Holmes took to social media platform X to clarify the situation, assuring fans that he was simply taking a well-deserved break. He confirmed, “See you next week,” dispelling any concerns about his absence, told Evening Standard.

Holmes’ break comes on the heels of his ongoing battle with mobility issues. The veteran presenter has been open about his efforts to regain movement after being forced to use walking aids due to a series of health setbacks. Recently, he shared a video on Instagram of himself using an Alter G anti-gravity treadmill, a device that allows users to exercise with reduced body weight, making it more comfortable for those with mobility challenges.

“Trying to remember what it felt like to have legs that worked,” Holmes captioned the video, reflecting his determination to recover. Holmes’ health journey has been long and challenging. In 2016, he underwent a double-hip replacement after enduring years of acute pain. Last year, he had back surgery to alleviate symptoms, but the procedure unfortunately led to complications, leaving him reliant on a wheelchair.

Amid his health struggles, Holmes has also been facing personal difficulties. In May, it was announced that he and his wife, Ruth Langsford, were divorcing after 14 years of marriage. The couple, who began dating in 1996, confirmed through a spokesperson that they are in the process of ending their marriage.

Following the news of their split, Langsford took an extended leave from her role on ITV’s Loose Women before making an emotional return in June. As Holmes takes time off to recharge, his fans are left hoping for his continued recovery and looking forward to his return to the screen next week.
