Princess Eugenie shares her ‘scar and encourage’ as she marks International Scoliosis Awareness Day

Prince Andrew’s youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, proudly revealed a personal story about a scar she’s lived with for years. In a heartfelt Instagram post on Wednesday, the 34-year-old princess, who married Jack Brooksbank in 2018, marked Scoliosis Awareness Day by sharing an iconic photo from her wedding.

In the picture, Princess Eugenie is seen wearing her white wedding dress with a low back, designed to display her scar from a life-changing operation she underwent at 12 years old. “Let’s be proud of our scars!” she captioned the post, sending a powerful message to the world.

She wrote: “Today is International Scoliosis Awareness Day. I just wanted to share my scar and encourage anyone out there who’s gone through something similar to share theirs with me.” To encourage the people who suffer from it, She added: “Let’s be proud of our scars! I’d love to repost any of your images on my stories so please tag me and I will share.”

She continued: “To all of you who have just received the diagnosis, to those wearing braces, to those recovering from an operation, and for those who have lived with a scar for years – My thoughts are with you on Scoliosis Awareness Day. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and researchers at @scoliosis_sr”

Her post comes amid ongoing health challenges within the royal family. Both King Charles and Princess Kate recently underwent major surgeries and were diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Princess Eugenie herself had major surgery on her back in 2002 to treat a curvature of the spine caused by scoliosis.

Eugenie’s decision to showcase her scar during her wedding was a deliberate choice to raise awareness and inspire others facing similar challenges. Her latest post continues this mission, encouraging people to embrace their own scars and the stories behind them.
