Royal Expert Slams Meghan Markle’s Cooking Show, Dubs Her the Next Brooklyn Beckham

Meghan Markle is under fire from a royal commentator following her announcement of a new Netflix show focused on cooking and lifestyle. Dubbed the “new Brooklyn Beckham” by some critics, the Duchess of Sussex’s foray into the world of culinary television has sparked debate about her motives and capabilities in the kitchen.

Charlotte Griffiths, Editor-at-large for the Mail on Sunday, voiced her skepticism on GB News about Meghan’s upcoming series, which aims to celebrate cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship. Griffiths questioned the Duchess’s reliance on her royal ties, remarking, “Who would possibly tune in to a programme about Meghan Markle cooking if it wasn’t for the fact she’d married into the royal family?”

Griffiths also referenced a past attempt by Meghan at a cooking show, which she found underwhelming. “Her last cookery show was her cooking toast. She cooked toast,” Griffiths said, recalling a segment where Meghan shared her toast recipe featuring ricotta and her grandmother’s favorite jam. According to Griffiths, this performance was akin to “watching paint dry.”

The commentary didn’t stop there. Griffiths suggested an unusual pairing, saying, “I think she and Brooklyn Beckham should probably be locked in a room together and just made to create,” hinting at a perceived lack of genuine culinary skill similar to the criticisms often directed at Beckham.

Griffiths further criticized Meghan’s past efforts to align herself with charitable cooking ventures, such as a cookbook for Grenfell Tower survivors. Despite acknowledging the good cause, she expressed doubts about Meghan’s sincerity, describing her public persona as a departure from her actual character. “I didn’t buy into this soft and gentle Meghan. We know she’s hard as nails and she’s ambitious and she’s ruthless,” Griffiths added.

This backlash comes as Meghan tries to reinvent herself with the launch of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and her new Netflix projects, seeking to soften her image after a turbulent 2023 marked by public scrutiny and professional setbacks.
