Prince Harry Can Never ‘Force’ Meghan Markle to Return to the UK Amid ‘Drama’: Royal Expert

The decision for Meghan Markle to permanently relocate to the UK rests solely with her, indicating that there is no obligation for the Duchess of Sussex to make such a move. Meghan, who plans to accompany her husband, Prince Harry, on a brief visit to London in the coming month, retains full autonomy over the choice to return to the UK on a permanent basis.

This forthcoming trip to London with Prince Harry marks one of the couple’s infrequent visits to the UK since their decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family and relocate to North America. The nature of Meghan’s visit, whether it is for personal, professional, or philanthropic reasons, has not been detailed, but it is clear that the journey is intended to be short-term.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams notes: “If Meghan didn’t want to come she could never be forced to. It would be extremely unlikely Harry would come over with the kids without Meghan.” Meanwhile, expert Esther Krakue says: “I actually think she’s avoiding the UK because she’s not interested in the whole drama and, kind of, being injected, is she going to talk to [Princess] Kate, and all of that.

“I personally think she’s not going to come because, obviously, Harry has lost his case with the Home Office and he said he doesn’t feel safe bringing his family over [to the UK] and I also think this is going to be a time where distance between the Sussexes and the Royal Family will be calcified because the focus will obviously be on the Princess of Wales and the King recovering, they don’t need the whole Netflix drama.”

The couple’s move to North America and their subsequent independence from the royal family have been subjects of global interest and speculation, with their every visit back to the UK closely monitored by both the public and the media. Despite the intense scrutiny and the various narratives surrounding their relationship with the royal family, it is evident that Meghan and Harry are charting their own path, one that allows them flexibility in terms of their geographical and professional affiliations.

Meghan’s upcoming trip with Prince Harry to London is anticipated with much interest, as each return to the UK by the couple tends to reignite discussions about their future plans and relationship with the royal family. However, it is essential to recognize that decisions regarding their permanent residency are deeply personal and rest entirely with Meghan and Harry.

As they continue to establish their life and work outside the traditional bounds of the royal family, Meghan and Harry’s choices will likely reflect their commitments, priorities, and the life they envision for themselves and their children. The question of a permanent return to the UK for Meghan, therefore, remains open-ended, dictated by her preferences and life’s evolving circumstances.
