Man shakes baby so hard, she gets a heart attack

A father has been sentenced to prison for causing the death of his three-month-old daughter by shaking her violently, leading to a heart attack. Samuel Warnock, 29, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his daughter, Miyah, during the coronavirus lockdown in 2021. The tragic incident occurred in their home in Devizes, Wiltshire, and despite being rushed to Bristol Children’s Hospital, Miyah succumbed to her injuries nearly a month later.

Miyah’s mother, Jasmine Warnock, also 29, faced charges of child cruelty in connection to the case. Investigations following Miyah’s death ruled out natural causes and determined she died from a traumatic head injury indicative of severe shaking or impact, reported Daily Mail.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Childe expressed the profound impact of Miyah’s death on her family and the investigative team, emphasizing the effort to hold her parents accountable. Miyah’s grandparents, mourning the loss of their “princess,” expressed their devastation.

Samuel Warnock received a 14-year prison sentence, while Jasmine was given a three-year community order with rehabilitation requirements. The sentencing judge highlighted a history of domestic abuse by Samuel against Jasmine and criticized his inability to care safely for an infant. The prosecutor noted previous concerns about Samuel’s rough treatment of Miyah, including observed bruising and alarming handling observed by friends and family.
