Prince William’s ‘uncomfortable gesture’ towards Harry and Meghan after Queen’s death

A recent revelation by a royal biographer sheds light on a surprising ‘gesture’ made by Prince William towards Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Despite the strained relationship between the two brothers, the unexpected move aimed to bring the family together during a difficult time.

Royal biographer Robert Hardman disclosed that Prince William was the initiator and organizer of a public appearance involving himself, Kate, Prince Harry, and Meghan to meet with grieving crowds after the Queen’s demise. This event, held outside Windsor Castle, marked a public display of unity despite the existing tensions between the couples.

The source close to Prince William, as reported by Robert Hardman, revealed that the Prince of Wales conceived the idea and swiftly organized the outing within two hours. Despite the complexities in their relationships, the 41-year-old prince felt it was the appropriate response in the context of their grandmother’s death.

In his upcoming book, “Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story,” Hardman describes the crowd’s astonishment at witnessing William, Kate, Meghan, and Harry appearing together. The foursome emerged from a car driven by Prince William, presenting a united front during the challenging period of mourning.

According to a palace adviser and a member of William and Kate’s team, the initiative was very much William’s idea, and he sought input from others before implementing it. The adviser stated, “It was very much William’s idea. He had organized it in about two hours flat. He had been giving it a lot of thought and he said: ‘I know it’s awkward but isn’t it right in the context of my grandmother’s death?’ I know he asked a couple of other people, too.”

Despite the outward unity, it’s reported that none of the four found the Windsor walkabout easy, and the palpable tension was evident. In another account from royal correspondent Robert Jobson, Kate referred to the walkabout as “one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do.”

Body language expert Judy James highlighted Meghan’s signs of “inner anxiety” during the event, noting that her frequent hair flicking suggested a level of inner turmoil. Despite the challenges, the public appearance was a notable attempt to present a united front during a period of family grief.
