Woman Tragically Trampled to Death by Cow After Sending Eerie Final Photo During Dog Walk
0Rebekah Morris Tragically Trampled to Death by Cow After Sending Final Photo to Her Mother
Rebekah Morris, a 29-year-old woman from Leicestershire, was tragically trampled to death while walking her dog in July 2022, just moments after sending her mother a photo of cattle in a field, an inquest has revealed.
At Leicester Coroner’s Court, it was heard that Rebekah, known to her loved ones as Becki, was out walking her chihuahua in Littlethorpe when the fatal incident occurred. She had sent her mother a picture of the cows, captioning it “cowz,” shortly before 9pm. However, her family became alarmed when she stopped responding to their messages.
Using the photo she had sent, her parents were able to trace her location. Despite the rapid response from paramedics, Becki went into cardiac arrest and tragically passed away at 11:21pm.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Biggs testified that her injuries were “consistent with hoof marks from a trampling incident.” He explained that she had sustained blunt force traumatic injuries, particularly to her upper chest and left shoulder, with significant internal bleeding caused by extensive damage to her liver.
Dr. Biggs added that, while the number of injuries was “not so large” to suggest the entire herd had been involved, the evidence pointed to a “relatively brief incident involving one cow.” He reassured the inquest jury that a forensic post-mortem was performed to “rule out” any suspicion of human involvement, confirming that all injuries were consistent with a livestock trampling.
The inquest, expected to last five days, continues to investigate the tragic circumstances surrounding Becki’s death.
