Woman stabbed to death in flat named as tributes pour in for ‘beautiful and caring’ Rebekah Campbell
A woman who tragically died after being stabbed in a flat in Huyton has been named locally as Rebekah Campbell. The 30-something was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night after the incident at Knowsley Heights, but sadly didn’t survive her injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 10.30 pm on April 15 after reports of a domestic-related stabbing. Police and paramedics arrived quickly, with officers providing first aid until medics took over. Despite their efforts, Rebekah later died in the hospital, reported the Mirror.
A cordon was placed around the flats on Wednesday, while a separate search took place along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal in Litherland. Photos showed police divers searching the water, with a special unit van stationed nearby. Police confirmed the canal search was linked to the ongoing investigation.
The heartbreaking news has left Rebekah’s loved ones devastated, with emotional tributes pouring in online. One person wrote: “Heartbroken RIP Becky, such a beautiful, caring girl. I can’t believe this has happened to you. Thinking of all your family at this devastating time. RIP angel.”
Another, Chelsea Campbell, posted: “Until we meet again our queen. Always look up to you even while you’re not here.” A friend, Antonia Evans, shared: “Forever young our beautiful girl, I will love and miss you forever.”
Merseyside Police confirmed a 34-year-old man from Litherland has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Officers say they’re not looking for anyone else in connection with the case at this stage but are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said: “This was a tragic incident in which a woman has sadly lost her life and specially trained officers are supporting her family. An investigation is underway, which is in the very early stages as we seek to establish exactly what has happened.”
Police are carrying out CCTV and witness enquiries, and have increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance to residents. DCI Dyer added: “Although we have already made an arrest, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward. If you live in the area and saw or heard anything suspicious last night, please get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
As the investigation continues, friends and family are left reeling from the sudden and violent loss of a woman they describe as kind, loving, and full of life.
