Inside William and Kate’s Secret Romantic Dinner Back Where It All Began

Prince William and Princess Kate recently returned to the quaint town of St Andrews, Scotland, where their love story began nearly two decades ago, via the Mirror. Marking their tenth wedding anniversary, the royal couple spent a nostalgic evening in the place that shaped their relationship during their university days.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both graduates of St Andrews University, were spotted enjoying a private dinner at Forgan’s, a cozy restaurant with a Scottish flair, on the night before a series of royal engagements. The couple, who met as first-year students at St Andrews, returned to the town for a quiet evening, capturing the warmth and simplicity of their early years together.

Opting for a private seating area toward the back of the restaurant, William and Kate dined without fanfare. Discreet security accompanied them, though the evening remained quiet and relaxed. “There was a crowd outside once they left, but as far as inside goes, it was quiet,” shared the restaurant’s manager, Marc. “There was no pomp and ceremony or fanfare; they were very nice, and when they left, they were very complimentary.” Marc, who was off duty at the time, received word of their visit from staff but declined to disclose what the couple ordered. The menu featured honey and whisky-glazed short rib of beef, herb-crusted salmon, and sumac cauliflower steak.

The visit to Forgan’s, a relatively new addition to St Andrews’ dining scene located in a former butcher’s warehouse, is a poignant contrast to the couple’s time as students in the early 2000s. William and Kate’s relationship began as a friendship in 2001 and blossomed into romance in 2003. Their bond became public the following year when Kate accompanied William on a skiing holiday in Klosters, Switzerland.

Their 2021 visit came 20 years after their initial meeting and a decade into their marriage, celebrated globally with their iconic royal wedding at Westminster Abbey in April 2011. Millions watched as they exchanged vows, marking a new chapter in their storied relationship. The St Andrews reunion underscores the couple’s enduring connection to the place where it all started, and their return highlighted both a reflective moment for the royal pair and a simple evening reminiscent of their early days together.
