William Is ‘Done With Harry,’ Will Not Publicly Respond to Brother

Prince William has made it clear he wants no part in his brother Prince Harry’s latest drama, and according to a royal insider, that silence is very much by design.
“William doesn’t talk about Harry anymore,” a source close to the royals told Us Weekly. “Everyone knows it’s a subject that they shouldn’t bring up, so he hasn’t brought up the interview and won’t.”
That interview, of course, was Harry’s sit-down with BBC News on May 2, where he claimed their father, King Charles III, “won’t speak with me.” Harry also pointed fingers at the royal family, suggesting they played a role in his recent legal loss to regain taxpayer-funded security for himself and Meghan Markle in the UK.
The Us Weekly source didn’t hold back on how deep this royal rift runs. “William is done with Harry,” they said. “When he becomes King, everybody thinks the divide will become even wider.”
While Kensington Palace has yet to issue a formal comment, it’s no secret the brothers haven’t seen eye to eye for years. Tensions escalated after Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal roles in 2020, and things only got more strained with the release of Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023, which offered a closer look into their rocky history.

Even as Harry made a public appeal during the interview for reconciliation with King Charles, saying, “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” the gesture didn’t seem to land as warmly as he may have hoped.
Royal biographer Christopher Andersen weighed in and didn’t mince words. He viewed Harry’s statement as a not-so-subtle jab at the King’s health, which has been under close watch since his cancer diagnosis in February 2024.
“If Harry really wants to reconcile with his family, he has an odd way of showing it,” Andersen told Us Weekly.
Harry’s comments followed a London court ruling against him in his legal push to bring back publicly funded protection. In the interview, he alleged that interference from his father and the Palace led to the unfavorable decision.
Andersen pointed out the conflicting messages Harry sent. “He slams his father for interfering in the trial, then says the Palace rigged the outcome, then accuses the Royal Family of not caring about the safety of his wife and children,” he said. “And winds up declaring that for now he can’t foresee any scenario in which he would take his family to the U.K.”
According to Andersen, the final blow was when Harry spoke about wanting to reconcile only because he feared his father didn’t have much time left. “Harry delivered the coup de grace when he said he wanted to bury the hatchet with his father because he doesn’t know how much time the King has left to live.”
For now, it looks like William is keeping his distance while Harry continues to air royal grievances in public.
