Coleen Rooney ‘Devastated’ After Wayne’s Sudden Sacking as Family Faces New Crisis
0Coleen Rooney is reportedly deeply worried for her husband Wayne after his dismissal as head coach of Plymouth Argyle. Wayne, 39, was sacked after a disappointing seven-month tenure that saw the team secure only four Championship wins this season. He received the news via a phone call on New Year’s Eve, leaving him “gutted” but understanding the decision.
Sources say Coleen had hoped this role would be a fresh chapter for Wayne. “Football is so important to him. It keeps him busy, and she worries about him. Football keeps him out of trouble,” a source shared with the Daily Mail.
Their difficulties were compounded this week when a video surfaced showing a woman entering Wayne’s Salcombe apartment, which he shared with assistant coach Pete Shuttleworth. The footage, allegedly edited to fuel rumors, caused a stir online.
Wayne addressed the controversy on Instagram, writing, “The video shows a man and woman looking around my apartment. The couple kindly gave me a lift home and were in there at the same time as my son who was visiting. The footage is from last summer. It is annoying that at least one online newspaper has chosen to edit the footage to make it appear as though a woman entered the apartment on her own. That is simply not true”, reported by the Mirror.
Despite the controversy, sources insist Coleen remains supportive, recognizing the challenges of Wayne’s fame. “She knows he’s a target for women. In the past, he’s done stupid things, but they are in a good place now,” a source said.
Wayne’s stint at Plymouth ended following a series of poor performances, including a 2-0 loss to Oxford United that left the team at the bottom of the Championship table. The club released a statement announcing their parting, thanking Wayne and his staff for their efforts.
Wayne’s time at the club was marked by heavy defeats, including a 4-0 loss in his debut and a humiliating 6-1 thrashing by Norwich. Reflecting on the latter, Wayne said, “We were nowhere near good enough… I could probably put the under-18 team out there and they wouldn’t concede six goals.”
Though his highly anticipated Welcome to Wrexham-style documentary may now shift focus to his struggles, Wayne remains optimistic with Coleen by his side.
