This Morning’s ‘Fun’ Seaside Segment Bombs Horribly—Viewers Can’t Stop Cringing

This Morning viewers were all saying the same thing on Thursday (March 20) – and it wasn’t exactly full of joy, despite the show’s attempt to celebrate the International Day of Happiness. Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were all smiles as they rolled out a series of feel-good segments aimed at spreading a bit of cheer.
But things took a turn when they cut to Big Brother host Will Best, who was live from Blackpool beach trying to inject some seaside fun into the show with games and crowd interaction. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite land with the audience watching at home, reported Wales Online.
Almost immediately, social media lit up with viewers venting their secondhand embarrassment. “This is painful to watch. Make it stop,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter), clearly not sold on the segment’s upbeat vibe. Someone else chimed in with: “This is turning into kids TV every day now,” while another commented: “That’s hardly a big crowd, pretty sure they just want to enjoy their time on the beach without some poxy TV show filming some cringe segment.”
It seems like what was meant to be a fun and light-hearted break from the usual format ended up missing the mark with a lot of people at home. And with viewers feeling more like they were watching CBBC than a daytime talk show, the criticism rolled in fast.
To be fair, This Morning has been experimenting a lot lately, especially since Cat and Ben took over presenting duties. And while some segments land and bring that classic mix of warmth and laughter, others – like this one – just leave viewers scratching their heads (or reaching for the remote).
The show has seen a bit of a shake-up recently, trying to refresh things and give audiences something new. But judging by today’s reaction, not everyone’s ready to embrace the more “zany” moments. Sometimes a beach and a camera crew just don’t mix – especially when the people around clearly didn’t sign up for it.
There’s no doubt Cat and Ben bring charm to the show, but if social media’s anything to go by, This Morning might want to rethink a few of these “fun” stunts in future episodes.
