Brace Yourselves: UK Set for More Snow and Rain This February

The UK is gearing up for another wave of wet and snowy weather, as February is set to bring more challenging conditions following an exceptionally rainy January. Some areas in eastern England even recorded their wettest January on record, and it seems the unsettled weather is far from over.

According to the latest forecasts from WXCharts, much of the UK will be hit with a mix of rain and snow starting from February 11. Weather maps show dramatic splashes of blue, green, purple, and even red, indicating heavy precipitation and snowfall across the country. Only a lucky few regions will escape this wintry deluge.

Most of England can expect several millimetres of rain per hour, with the north of England and Scotland bracing for significant snowfall. The Scottish Highlands are predicted to see up to 21 centimetres of snow, while a broad area stretching from north of Manchester up to Newcastle and into Scotland, including Edinburgh, could be blanketed with up to 10 centimetres of snow. Some areas in central England may see accumulations of as much as 15 centimetres.

Rainfall will also make its presence felt, with large parts of England and the northwest coast of Wales experiencing several millimetres of rain per hour. Northern Ireland isn’t being spared either, as it braces for wet conditions and some snowfall in the northwest of the region.

Interestingly, only a few spots in the UK appear to be dodging this turbulent weather. A curved band from northern Wales to southern parts of the country, excluding Cardiff and Snowdonia, might escape the worst of the storm, along with the very tip of Cornwall near St Ives and Land’s End.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for February 11–25 hints at more periods of unsettled weather initially, with rain and strong winds dominating in the north but spreading southward at times. However, toward the end of February, there’s a glimmer of hope for drier and more settled conditions, especially in the south, potentially spreading further north. Temperatures are expected to hover close to average, with some milder spells likely, particularly in the north.

With rain boots and snow shovels at the ready, it’s safe to say the UK is in for a wild February! Stay prepared and keep an eye on local forecasts as this wintry mix unfolds.
