Donald Trump Slams Grammys as ‘Garbage’ and Vows to Sue Trevor Noah Over Epstein Island Joke
Donald Trump lashed out on Truth Social shortly after the 2026 Grammys wrapped up, tearing into the ceremony as “virtually unwatchable” and unloading on host Trevor Noah after a joke that referenced Trump’s past association with Jeffrey Epstein. The former president appeared especially furious over a quip that suggested he had been a guest on Epstein’s private island.
“The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer,” Trump wrote online. “The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards. Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory, statement, have never been accused being there, not even by the Fake News Media.”
Trump went on to escalate the attack, threatening legal action against the comedian. “Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty. Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
The moment that triggered the backlash came during the show’s biggest category. After Billie Eilish won song of the year for “Wildflower,” Noah congratulated her before pivoting into a joke aimed squarely at Trump.
“There you have it, song of the year! Congratulations, Billie Eilish. Wow. That’s a Grammy that every artist wants — almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense because, since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
The line drew laughter in the room but clearly struck a nerve with Trump, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein. While Trump has been photographed with Epstein in the past, he has said he cut ties long before Epstein’s arrest and has denied visiting Epstein’s island.
Interestingly, Trump’s online tirade focused almost entirely on Noah and the joke, while avoiding any comment on one of the night’s most historic wins. Bad Bunny took home album of the year for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” becoming the first artist to win the top prize with a fully Spanish language album.
The silence stood out given Trump’s previous criticism of Bad Bunny, who is also set to headline the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show. Trump has already voiced his disapproval of that decision in earlier interviews.
“I’ve never heard of him,” Trump said last October during an appearance on NewsMax’s “Greg Kelly Reports” after Bad Bunny was announced as the Super Bowl performer. “I don’t know who he is… I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment — I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
For now, Trump appears far more focused on settling scores from the Grammys stage than weighing in on the ceremony’s musical milestones. Whether his threatened lawsuit against Noah goes anywhere remains to be seen, but his post show outburst has already ensured that the Grammys conversation is continuing long after the final award was handed out.
