Trisha Goddard Replaces Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain, Fans Call for Permanent Role

Viewers of Good Morning Britain were surprised to see Trisha Goddard step in for Kate Garraway during Tuesday’s show, joining Richard Madeley as co-host to discuss the day’s top stories. The change in lineup quickly became a topic of conversation on social media, with many fans expressing their enthusiasm for Trisha’s appearance and calling for her to become a regular fixture on the program.

One fan tweeted, “I am loving Trisha on #GMB. Please can she stay forever,” while another suggested, “It’s refreshing to have Trisha on @GMB. Can’t we have her as a regular co-presenter for @susannareid100? The current male lineup isn’t great; bring in Trisha full-time! #GMB.” Others echoed similar sentiments, praising the pairing of Trisha and Richard as “very professional” and complimenting Trisha as a “very talented journalist.”

The lineup change came after Monday’s episode, during which Kate Garraway appeared to be dealing with a personal crisis live on-air. According to The Mirror, Kate was seen distracted by her phone during a commercial break, though she did not share details of the emergency. Kate has occasionally stepped back from her role on GMB to attend to her father, Gordon, who has been dealing with serious health issues following a suspected stroke and cardiac arrest.

However, Trisha’s appearance on the show had been planned in advance. In a recent interview on Good Morning Britain with Kate and co-host Ed Balls, it was revealed that Trisha would be guest hosting the show on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 14, 2024). Trisha admitted to feeling more nervous about being interviewed than hosting, saying, “I’m not normally nervous, I have to say. That bit I’m not nervous about, but I’ve been shaking like a chihuahua.”

The conversation also touched on Trisha’s ongoing battle with terminal breast cancer. Her guest appearance on GMB coincides with Ed Balls’ announcement that he will be taking a break from the show until September. Ed shared his plans on Instagram, posting a photo of himself with a pavlova and a selfie with Kate. His caption read, “What better way to celebrate the start of summer holidays than with a pavlova – our family favorite,” and he expressed his enjoyment of working with Kate during recent weeks.

He added, “I’m back with Susanna (Reid) at the beginning of September when schools and Parliament return – see you soon.” Trisha’s appearance has sparked widespread support, with fans hoping to see more of her on Good Morning Britain in the future.
