Tragic Outcome at House Party as Teenager Loses Life in Knife Attack and Three Peers Are Convicted

In a heart-wrenching incident at a Bath house party, three teenagers have been convicted in the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Mikey Roynon from Kingwood, near Bristol. The tragic event unfolded on June 10, 2023, when a confrontation escalated, leading to Mikey being stabbed in the neck with a large zombie knife, ultimately collapsing and dying on the driveway.

After an intense five-and-a-half-week trial at Bristol Crown Court, the jury delivered their verdicts: one teen was found guilty of murder for the direct assault on Mikey, while his two accomplices, also 16, were convicted of manslaughter. The convicted murderer claimed self-defense, but the evidence suggested a planned attack with the trio arriving armed at the birthday celebration.

The case revealed shocking details, including CCTV footage showing the defendants with the weapon and forensic evidence linking one of the teens directly to the crime. Despite their claims of self-defense and denial of the murder charge, their actions have led to a devastating loss, leaving Mikey’s family and community in mourning.

Detective Inspector Mark Newbury expressed dismay at the youths’ decision to bring weapons to a social gathering, emphasizing the broader issue of knife crime among young people. The tragedy has spurred a combined effort from police, local authorities, and the community to address and prevent such senseless violence, highlighting the urgent need for conversations about the dangers of carrying knives.

The sentencing for the three teens is scheduled for May 3, as Mikey’s family continues to advocate against knife crime, honoring his memory and the impact of his untimely death.
