This Morning Host Left in Stitches Over Guest’s ‘Crude’ Comment

During Thursday’s episode of This Morning, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley found themselves struggling to contain their laughter after a lighthearted, yet awkward exchange with guest Nick Ferrari. The conversation took a humorous turn while discussing a recent report revealing that a quarter of baby boomers are reportedly seeking friends-with-benefits relationships.

The guests, broadcaster Vanessa Feltz and journalist Nick Ferrari, who are both part of the baby boomer generation, shared their thoughts on the surprising topic. Ferrari, who is happily in a relationship, commented on the motivations behind these friendships, saying:

“This is people aged 60 through to 69, so the chances are they have had a relationship or two. They’ve probably had their children and they’re reaching that period of their life where they just want a bit of fun. To go out, to have perhaps a meal with somebody, maybe a drink afterward and back for a coffee. Not, to put it too crudely, a little bit of cuddly wuddly.”

As the implication became clear, Shephard and Deeley burst into laughter, unable to keep a straight face. A visibly embarrassed Vanessa Feltz exclaimed, “Oh god!” Meanwhile, Cat playfully teased Ferrari, saying, “That wasn’t crude at all! That was the Teletubby version.”

Despite the hosts’ amusement, Ferrari continued with his light-hearted take, suggesting that boomers just want a bit of “ha ha” after a nice meal out. This prompted Shephard to jokingly ask, “Nick, is that how you seduced your partner? You say, ‘You fancy a bit of cuddly wuddly?'”

Though the atmosphere became slightly uncomfortable, Vanessa remained firm in her opinion, expressing her disagreement with the idea of friends with benefits among boomers. She said, “Am I looking for that? Absolutely not. I think that would be devastating to a friendship because if you’re having the benefits, it’s not quite a friendship. But it’s also not quite a relationship, so you haven’t got the love and contentment, security of what you hope a successful relationship is.”

Vanessa concluded, “To me, it feels like the worst of both worlds, rather than the best of both worlds.” Despite the awkwardness, the moment provided plenty of laughs for both the hosts and viewers alike.
