This Morning Fans Voice Same Complaint Minutes Into ITV Show

Chaos reigned supreme on This Morning as the iconic Fawlty Towers cast staged a surprise invasion, throwing a spanner in the works of the ITV program. Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were thrown off balance right at the start of Friday’s (July 26) episode as they introduced the show’s upcoming segments, only for an unscripted interruption to occur.

The live broadcast spiraled into disarray as actors from Fawlty Towers barged in, derailing Alison and Dermot’s opening segment. Amidst the mayhem, something broke, prompting a startled reaction from Alison who blurted out, “They broke it.” This unscheduled Fawlty invasion clearly didn’t impress some viewers, who headed straight to social media to express their dismay, reports the Mirror.

One viewer vented on X, formerly known as Twitter, writing: “Fawlty Towers wasn’t funny 50 years ago #ThisMorning.” Another griped, “Not finding anything about this remotely funny.” A third chimed in with disappointment, “Oh no…. it’s not going to be a slapstick show, is it? Like end-of-term silliness.”

Echoing this sentiment, another urged, “Please stop that immediately.” Before the studio chaos unfolded, Alison revealed that it would be her “last day” on air before she embarked on her summer hiatus, taking “four weeks and four days” off. Alison, renowned for her charm and effervescent presence on This Morning, is set to take a temporary leave from the show she co-hosted with the likes of Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard during the summer.

Co-host Dermot O’Leary prefaced the announcement on July 25 with a touch of melancholy, informing the audience, “It’s quite sad that tomorrow is going to be our last show for some time.” Alison confirmed her impending break by acknowledging, “I know, I know, my last day. I’m going on holiday, bubs, it’s time.” Never one to miss an opportunity for humor, she remarked, “Alison needs a break” – sparking a supportive jest from Dermot, who echoed, “We all need a break.”

The quick-witted presenter concluded with a playful nod to her detractors: “Even YOU need a break from me.” This declaration caused quite a stir among viewers, prompting a flurry of social media reactions, including tweets of concern: “Is Alison leaving for good?” and remarks noting her leave: “It’s Alison’s last day on #ThisMorning before she goes on a break!”
