Scots Teacher Struck Off After Seducing Ex-Pupil Who Tried to Kill in Jealous Rage

A former Castlemilk High School teacher has been struck off after engaging in a s*xual relationship with an ex-pupil who later attempted to murder a man in a jealous knife attack.

Laura McEwan, 36, was removed from the teaching register after it emerged that she had an inappropriate relationship with Matthew Davidson, a former student who left school in 2019 at the age of 17. The pair later attended a flat party in Shettleston, Glasgow, in August 2020, where Davidson launched a vicious knife attack on William Taube, leaving him fighting for his life.

Brutal Attack Over Teacher’s Affection Davidson, along with accomplice John Wilson, stabbed the unarmed victim eight times in a brutal assault. A source revealed that the attack was fuelled by jealousy, as Davidson allegedly became enraged upon seeing McEwan with the older man, reported Daily Record.

“Her relationship with the former pupil was found out after she attended a house party in Shettleston. When he found out she was going, he attended and brought a knife,” the source told The Record. “When he saw her there with an older man, he got jealous and stabbed him. She then fled the scene and drove them both to her house, where they were found together by police.”

The victim, Mr Taube, suffered bleeding around his heart and a collapsed lung. Emergency medics stated he would have died without immediate surgery. Davidson later admitted attempted murder at Glasgow High Court in March 2021.

Teacher’s Conduct Deemed ‘Predatory and Appalling’ McEwan, who previously worked as faculty head at Drumchapel High School, was brought before the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) this week, where she admitted to multiple misconduct allegations.

Her inappropriate behavior included Driving Davidson home from school in 2019. Drinking alcohol with former S6 pupils in April 2019, allowing a photo of her drinking to be shared on Facebook. Attempting to persuade a witness not to cooperate with police after the attempted murder. A GTCS panel found McEwan’s conduct “dishonest” and “lacking integrity”, ruling that she was unfit to teach. she voluntarily signed an order removing herself from the profession, with the earliest chance of re-registration in 2027.
