Tana Ramsay Opens Up About Heartbreaking Loss of Son Rocky in Emotional Interview
0In a deeply emotional interview, Tana Ramsay shared how her entire family came together in grief as she gave birth to a stillborn baby, Rocky, in 2016. Speaking with podcast host Giovanna Fletcher on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Tana, wife of internationally renowned chef Gordon Ramsay, opened up about the profound pain of losing her son and the support she received from her family during that devastating time.
Tana, a broadcaster and author, explained that she and Gordon initially struggled with fertility issues before becoming the proud parents of six children, whose ages range from 26 years to just six months old. Despite the joy of welcoming their youngest, baby Jesse, earlier this year, the loss of Rocky remains a raw wound for Tana, told Daily Mail.
During the podcast, Tana recounted how doctors warned her that Rocky was unlikely to survive. She vividly remembered asking the midwife, “Will he be born breathing? Will his heart be beating?” and receiving the uncertain reply, “I just don’t know.”
Gordon, who hadn’t been present at the births of their older children, made a heartfelt decision to stay by Tana’s side during Rocky’s birth. “I remember Gordon just looked at me and said, ‘I’m not going anywhere, I’m staying in for this,'” Tana recalled, describing how their other children also gathered around to support her.
A source told The Sun: One of the most difficult aspects of that tragic day, Tana shared, was witnessing her children’s pain as they processed the loss. “All the other kids were there, and I think that was the hardest thing—seeing them deal with it,” she said, her voice breaking as she fought back tears. Fletcher gently reassured her, saying, “That’s ok.”
Tana, who was five months pregnant when she learned she would have to say goodbye to Rocky, remembered him as “the most perfect little boy.” She tearfully recounted the moment when her son Jack asked if he had a brother or sister, and she replied, “Oh, it’s a brother.”
“It was really hard,” Tana continued, describing the overwhelming sense of emptiness that followed. “The next morning, you’re leaving the hospital and you haven’t got a baby.”
Despite their immense heartbreak, Tana and Gordon found the strength to try again. In addition to their older children—Megan, now 26, twins Holly and Jack, 24, and Tilly, 22—the Ramsay family now includes five-year-old Oscar and baby Jesse, born last November.
