Strictly’s James and Ola Jordan Reveal Devastating Miscarriage in Emotional Interview

Former Strictly Come Dancing pros James and Ola Jordan have opened up about the emotional highs and devastating lows of their IVF journey, sharing their story in the hope it’ll help others going through similar struggles.

The couple, who’ve been married for over two decades, were incredibly honest in a chat on Vanessa Feltz’s new Channel 5 show, reflecting on how long they spent trying to conceive. After years of putting off having children due to their careers, they decided to stop avoiding pregnancy, but nothing happened.

“We had been together for a long time and tried for 18 years not to be pregnant because you’re on the show, have this career and life,” Ola said. “One day we said ‘let’s just take it easy and see what happens’… years went past and nothing happened”, reported the Mirror.

After trying naturally for three years, Ola, then 37, was advised by her GP to try IVF. That first round worked, and their daughter Ella was born in February 2020. “She is wonderful and very clever. I don’t know where she gets it from, neither of us,” Ola joked. “Very funny, very cheeky, she is just amazing.”

James shared his joy on social media at the time, saying, “I’m the happiest man in the world.” But their attempt to give Ella a sibling didn’t go as smoothly. The couple had two frozen embryos left and decided to give IVF another go. Ola fell pregnant, but sadly, the joy didn’t last.

“It was very heartbreaking, devastating,” she said. “We went in and suddenly everything went quiet and I knew something was not right.” Doctors confirmed there was no heartbeat. Following the miscarriage, they were told Ola had only a five percent chance of a healthy pregnancy if they tried IVF again — news that hit hard.

James added, “We were told by the doctors that sometimes it reboots something in the body, and naturally, you get pregnant the second time. We’ve heard it from our friends who went through IVF, and six months later, something happens. That didn’t happen for us.”

Despite the challenges, the couple said that speaking out has helped — not just for them, but for others too. “It’s not easy and it’s better to talk about it,” Ola said. And with so many people reaching out since they went public with their story, it’s clear they’re helping to break the silence around fertility struggles.
