Stephen Dixon Forced Off GB News Breakfast – Fans Gutted After Sudden Health Update

GB News viewers are in for a bit of a shake-up after presenter Stephen Dixon revealed he’ll be missing from the Thursday morning broadcast. The 51-year-old, who usually co-hosts the show with Ellie Costello from Wednesday through Friday, took to social media to share that he’s feeling under the weather.

Posting on X, Stephen kept it short and sweet, saying: “Won’t be in on Thursday, not very well. Hopefully back in on Friday [two fingers crossed emojis].” Fans were quick to flood the replies with messages of support, clearly gutted he wouldn’t be on their screens. One wrote: “Hope you get better soon! You will be missed,” while another chimed in: “Wishing you better Stephen!”

Even his co-presenter, Ellie Costello, jumped into the comments to say: “I will miss you!! Wishing you better.” Others shared similar sentiments, with one fan summing it up perfectly: “The only days I watch is when you’re on! Disappointed you won’t be there but hope you get well soon sir”, reported the Express.

While Stephen didn’t go into detail about his illness, it’s not the first time his health’s been in the spotlight recently. Just a couple of weeks ago, he mentioned on air that he’d spent much of the previous week in A&E departments. He told viewers: “I’ve spent most of this week, for various reasons, in A&E for several days on the trot with different people. And then when I was there on Thursday, the language in there from some of the patients who were waiting to be seen was appalling.”

Though he didn’t explain who he was in the hospital with, it was clear it had been a hectic and probably stressful few days. That said, Stephen’s no stranger to managing health issues. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 17, he’s spoken openly about how the condition has shaped his life.

“I have been a Type 1 diabetic since I was 17, which has been a challenge but a really positive one,” he previously shared. “It has never occurred to me to let it get in my was,y but it has to be respected. It gives me a great insight into my own health and I really enjoy talking about the technology which helps keep me going. It’s an exciting field to have a passion in, even if it wasn’t by my own choosing.”

While Stephen rests up, GB News has confirmed that political editor Christopher Hope will be stepping in for Thursday’s show. Fans will no doubt be hoping for his return on Friday – fingers crossed indeed.
