Shaun Wallace, best known as The Dark Destroyer on ITV’s The Chase, has revealed that some of his former flames are still upset about being left out of his memoir, Chasing the Dream. Speaking on the How To Be 60 podcast, hosted by Kaye Adams and Karen MacKenzie, Shaun admitted that his autobiography deliberately excludes stories about his past relationships.
“In that autobiography, I never mentioned any of my ex-relationships once,” Shaun shared. “Some of my ex-girlfriends are still miffed about that. They said, ‘Why have you not mentioned me?’ I replied, ‘It’s not that type of story.’” He explained his decision further, saying, “If you want to read about sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll, then go and buy someone else’s autobiography. What we do [as a couple] should be private”, reported by the Express.
Despite the omissions, Shaun revealed he remains on good terms with some of his ex-partners, maintaining amicable ties. When asked about his choice to keep personal matters out of the spotlight, he confirmed, “Yes. It’s a personal choice. My private life is my private life. I don’t want to enquire into anybody’s life, and I choose to keep mine private.”
While Shaun is fully committed to his career—quipping that it’s like a marriage—he also disclosed that he is currently in a relationship. However, he prefers to keep his significant other away from public attention.
The conversation took a poignant turn when Shaun revealed his close bond with a former partner’s child, whom he helped raise. “I do have an ex-partner whose daughter, who I have raised since the age of two, she is my closest thing to a daughter,” he said. “But she lives in America now.”
Shaun’s candid remarks showcased a deeply private side of the popular quiz master, emphasizing his commitment to guarding personal relationships from the public eye. While fans might be curious about Shaun’s love life, his focus remains on his career and protecting the privacy of those close to him. For Shaun, what happens off-screen is meant to stay off-screen.
