“Have They Got All the Cancer Out?”: Sarah Ferguson Shares Health Update After Cancer Diagnosis

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has shared a health update following her recent cancer diagnosis, despite medics warning the 64-year-old royal not to say she’s ‘cancer-free’, via The Mirror.

As the Royal family grapples with the ongoing health crises of King Charles and Kate Middleton, who are both currently fighting cancer, there’s one beacon of hope shining brightly. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has just provided an uplifting health update.

The 64-year-old Duchess bravely disclosed in June 2023 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, leading to a mastectomy to eradicate the disease. Post-surgery, Fergie underwent a reconstructive procedure, during which doctors detected an unusual skin lesion, tragically later confirmed as malignant melanoma.

Following two successive cancer diagnoses within a few months, the Duchess’ health situation caused considerable concern for her, and her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. However, she has now delightedly shared that there’s a ray of light emerging in her recovery journey – although medics have warned her against declaring herself ‘cancer-free.’

Recalling her unflinching honesty when telling her girls about her successful treatment, the Duchess told Hello!: “I have always brought up my girls to be so honest and frank that they know I’m going to tell it to them straight, however difficult it is. So when they said, ‘Mummy, tell us the absolute truth – have they got all the cancer out?’ and the answer was yes, they knew they were safe.”

While her battle appears to be victorious now, her everyday lifestyle has to undergo some adjustments. Thankfully, these did not include chemotherapy, reports the Mirror.

Sarah candidly explained her current daily routine to the publication, saying, “I have to be checked regularly, and I have to put cream on my face to get out past sun damage, which means big blisters on my face, chest, and hands for three weeks. But I’m not doing immunotherapy, taking any drugs, or doing chemotherapy, for which I’m very grateful.”

The brave woman further illuminated how her life perspective has shifted since her diagnosis, adding: “It gave me a swift kick in the butt and told me, ‘Right, are you going to start living now, at 64, or are you going to keep on not quite living? You don’t have to be what everyone wants you to be: just be yourself.”

As she navigates her recovery, the Duchess of York remains a source of inspiration and resilience. Her journey highlights the importance of honesty, support, and self-care, offering hope to many facing similar battles. While the road ahead may still hold challenges, Sarah Ferguson’s strength and positive outlook continue to shine through.
