Sara Pascoe’s Hilarious Comeback to Alex Jones on The One Show Steals the Spotlight
0During Thursday night’s episode of The One Show, host Alex Jones found herself on the receiving end of a light-hearted scolding after posing a personal question to comedian Sara Pascoe, reported by OK!. The exchange unfolded as Alex and co-host Roman Kemp welcomed Sara alongside Anne-Marie Duff and Mark Bonnar to the show’s iconic green sofa. The episode also spotlighted inspiring stories of unsung British heroes making a difference through charitable work.
The moment of mischief came when Alex asked Sara about her upcoming comedy tour and juggled the topic with her experiences as a mother of two. Alex jokingly queried, “Now, is this tour just to avoid bedtime?” Sara, quick with a witty comeback, fired back with mock indignation, “How dare you? How dare you?”
Laughing it off, Sara added, “It’s about my passion for stand-up comedy! That’s just the sort of side benefit,” as reported by Wales Online. The playful exchange had a kernel of truth, though, as Sara has previously admitted that performing stand-up offers a welcome break from her kids’ often chaotic bedtimes.
Earlier this month, while unveiling her tour plans, Sara jokingly confessed: “I have grown to depend on touring, not only because of my deep love of performing stand-up but also to avoid the difficult bedtimes of my unruly children.”
Co-host Roman Kemp joined the conversation by exploring whether Sara believed motherhood had impacted her comedy career. Reflecting on her journey as a mother of two, Sara shared: “I think I am [better]. I think partly because I became so vulnerable, in terms of you don’t sleep, you’ve made these people, you’re in charge of everything. It really did make me much more genuine on stage.”
Sara went on to explain how motherhood has shaped her as a performer, telling Alex and Roman: “I think I’m much more myself, and also, I think it makes you work harder. When you have to leave your house, leave your kids, you want to be good at it and make it worth it.”
In her signature humorous style, she also reflected on the challenges of balancing life as a comedian and a parent: “I think I’ve lost a lot of confidence, I eat off the floor a lot more now,” she joked, adding that embodying the “rock star” persona isn’t quite as easy when you’re wrangling two young children.
