Sally Nugent leaves fans laughing as she calls out co star live on air

Sally Nugent and Jon Kay had BBC Breakfast viewers in stitches on Wednesday morning as they kicked off the show with a cheeky exchange about walking speeds — and heart health.

The pair were going through the day’s papers when Sally pulled out a headline that struck a personal chord. “Here is a story that you will appreciate, Jon,” she teased, before explaining that a new study suggests people who walk fast are more likely to have better heart health. According to the research, brisk walkers are less likely to develop atrial fibrillation — a condition that causes an irregular or overly fast heartbeat.

Jon immediately clocked the real reason for the article’s appearance. “The reason Sally has chosen this story is because every day I struggle to keep up with her when she walks around the office,” he said, laughing, reported the Express.

Sally didn’t deny it. In fact, she leaned right in. “Yeah, feeling like my heart might be super healthy and very happy,” she replied with a grin, before admitting what many fast walkers secretly think. “But, it is a little bit frustrating if you’re a fast walker and people are walking slowly on the pavements… that can be a little bit frustrating.”

Never one to miss a chance for a bit of banter, Jon shot back, “Anyone in particular? Name and shame!” Sally wasn’t letting him off the hook, joking, “But you’re too busy chatting to people! That’s what it is.”

The exchange had the studio giggling as the pair tried to rein it in and carry on with the show. With Carol Kirkwood already brightening up the morning with the weather forecast, the heart health headline gave viewers a burst of relatable humour, wrapped in a dose of useful info.

It was one of those moments that reminded everyone why the duo’s chemistry works so well — real, warm, and just a little bit cheeky. As Sally and Jon passed the spotlight over to their colleague Nick Johnson for the next story, you could still hear the laughter echoing in the background.

Turns out, keeping up with Sally Nugent might just be good for your heart — if you can manage it.
