Ruth Langsford Opens Up on Heartbreak and Having ‘No Plan B’ After Split from Eamonn

Loose Women star Ruth Langsford recently opened up about her future plans and the challenges of moving forward following her split from ex-husband Eamonn Holmes. After 14 years of marriage, the couple parted ways in May 2024. In a candid interview with Woman and Home, Ruth shared her thoughts on navigating single life and her hopes for their 21-year-old son, Jack.

Discussing her primary focus post-divorce, Ruth revealed that her main hope for the future centers around Jack’s happiness. She expressed, “When you have children, you look at them starting out in life and just want everything to be good for them, for them to be happy and to not have their hearts broken.” She admitted that while she can’t guarantee this, ensuring Jack’s happiness is what she desires most.

Beyond her son, Ruth has also been a stepmother to Eamonn’s three children from his previous marriage to Gabrielle, and she continues to hold family close to her heart. When asked about her greatest love, Ruth didn’t hesitate to answer, “My gorgeous son Jack, who is the most delightful, caring, and wonderful young man. After him, it’s got to be my Maggie, our rescue dog.” Ruth noted that she hadn’t expected to bond so deeply with an animal, adding, “I didn’t know I could love an animal as much as I love her, but I do.”

In addition to reflecting on her relationships, Ruth was asked if she ever had a backup plan in life. She replied with characteristic candor, saying, “I don’t have a plan B because I never had a plan A. Ever!” Acknowledging her son’s importance, she repeated how Jack is “the most delightful, caring, and wonderful young man,” underscoring how he remains the center of her world, reporters OK! Magazine.

While Eamonn has recently moved on and is dating Katie Alexander, a 42-year-old who joined him on a recent trip to Barcelona, Ruth is reportedly open to new possibilities in her own love life. According to a source from Closer Magazine, Ruth is beginning to explore dating again. The source shared, “While Ruth’s making the most of being single, she’s also ready to dip her toe back into the dating pool. After some friendly flirting, she’s given pals the go-ahead to set her up on dates.”

The insider went on to say that Ruth is “really excited for that first date,” while also feeling the inevitable jitters that come with new beginnings. “She can’t wait for the tummy flutters of falling for someone again and experiencing all the ‘firsts’ with a new boyfriend,” they added.

Though Eamonn has expressed his desire to remain friends with Ruth following their split, Ruth feels differently. She previously stated her stance on staying in touch post-breakup, asserting, “Why would you need to stay friends? You aren’t with them anymore; you don’t need to be friends. My thing is you weren’t just friends, you were married or had a relationship.”

As she continues adjusting to life as a single woman, Ruth’s focus remains on her family, personal growth, and the exciting possibility of new love. Fans have shared their support for the Loose Women presenter, applauding her openness and resilience as she embraces this next chapter.
