Ruth Langsford Fires Back at Critics Over ‘Sad to Watch’ Claims After Eamonn Holmes Split

Ruth Langsford, well-known for her role on ITV’s Loose Women, recently had to defend herself against a troll on social media, following her split from long-time partner Eamonn Holmes. The 64-year-old TV personality shared a cooking video on Instagram, which was part of a promotional ad for Tesco. However, not all of her followers appreciated the content, with one user commenting that it was “sad to watch.”

The critical fan wrote, “Ruth is better than this ridiculous advertising. Sad to watch.” Ruth, however, didn’t hesitate to respond, clapping back with, “Feel free to unfollow if this is making you sad.”

Ruth’s cooking video, showcasing a Mediterranean-inspired dish, came in the wake of her and Eamonn’s public split earlier this year. The couple, who had been together for 27 years and married for 14, announced their separation in May. Meanwhile, Eamonn Holmes has reportedly moved on with his new girlfriend, Katie Alexander, told Birmingham Mail.

This week also marked Ruth’s return to This Morning, the first time since her split from Eamonn. The couple co-hosted the popular daytime show from 2006 until 2021 when they were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary as part of a major revamp. After their departure from the regular Friday slot, both Ruth and Eamonn were eventually moved to the bank holiday presenting slot before their exit from the show was confirmed.

Eamonn, who now works with GB News, has faced a series of health struggles in recent years, further complicating their relationship. In 2022, Eamonn underwent spinal surgery after battling years of back issues, including a trapped sciatic nerve. Unfortunately, months later, he suffered a severe fall down the stairs at their Surrey home, which resulted in a broken shoulder and required further surgery.

Despite their split, both Ruth and Eamonn have continued their respective careers in broadcasting. Ruth remains a key figure on Loose Women, while Eamonn continues to present on GB News. Though their personal lives have taken different paths, Ruth’s fiery response to the recent social media criticism shows she’s not letting the negativity get to her.
