Ruth Langsford Fires Back at Troll Who Told Her to ‘Think of the Homeless
Ruth Langsford has hit back at a social media troll who criticized her for promoting “expensive food and clothes” on Instagram, telling them that their attempt to shame her was futile. The Loose Women star, 64, posted an advertisement for Tesco’s Finest Deli Range, featuring a platter of meats, cheeses, and a bottle of bubbly. However, one follower was not pleased with the promotion and took to Instagram to comment: “Do you ever think of the homeless while advertising expensive food and clothes?”
Ruth, known for her quick wit, responded with a firm retort, stating: “You have no idea what I do for, or contribute to, charities so if you’re trying to shame me it won’t work!” This isn’t the first time Ruth has faced criticism from trolls online. In October, a different user criticized her for promoting Tesco again, this time when she shared a video making a fish dish inspired by her holiday in Spain. The follower commented, “Ruth is better than this ridiculous advertising. Sad to watch.”
Ruth wasn’t having it and responded: “Feel free to unfollow if this is making you sad.” The follower quickly backtracked, expressing appreciation for Ruth’s other content and apologized for their harsh words, writing, “For some reason, these Tesco posts seem odd so I’ll stick to your other lovely posts. Sorry if I seemed harsh, as I wish you well and didn’t intend to offend.”
Ruth graciously accepted the apology, replying: “No offense taken and good to hear you enjoy our shows on QVC….thanks for watching x.”Ruth has had a challenging year, particularly after her split from her husband Eamonn Holmes, 64, after 14 years of marriage. While Ruth has not publicly addressed the details of their breakup, she has described it as “tricky” to part ways under the public eye. Sources have also suggested that Ruth hired a strong lawyer for her divorce proceedings.
As for her personal life, Ruth is believed to be single, while Eamonn has reportedly moved on with 42-year-old Katie Alexander. A source shared with The Sun: “Katie certainly seems to be able to put a smile back on Eamonn’s face. They seem genuinely besotted with each other.”
