Richard Madeley’s New Beard Sparks Debate on Good Morning Britain
0Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley got viewers talking as he debuted a new look during the latest episode of the ITV breakfast show on December 9, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 68-year-old star returned to television screens alongside Susanna Reid to bring the latest news from around the globe. However, it was Richard’s new facial hair that quickly became the main topic of conversation. The show even launched a poll asking viewers if Richard should “keep his facial hair.” The results showed that 66% of the audience voted “no.”
Viewers flooded social media to express their opinions on Richard’s fresh look. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “I am absolutely loving the new beard growing, stick with it Richard, it will look very distinguished.” However, others weren’t as fond of his new appearance, with one critic commenting, “Richard’s ‘stubble’ blends in with his makeup/fake tan/wrong foundation #GMB,” while another noted, “The Middle East is on fire but let’s talk about Richard’s beard”, reported by the Mirror.
Despite the mixed reviews, Richard made a quick change. Before the credits rolled at the end of the show, he left the studio to shave off his beard, returning moments later looking clean-shaven.
Richard’s beard first made an appearance during his attendance at The Royal Foundation Carol Service: Together at Christmas at Westminster Abbey in London, where he was accompanied by his wife, Judy Finnigan. Richard wore a stylish black coat, a crisp white shirt, and a grey tie, completing his look with navy blue tailored trousers and black leather shoes. Judy, 76, also dressed warmly for the event, opting for a black coat and scarf adorned with silver sequin details, paired with black trousers and flat black boots.
The event, which was organized by the Princess of Wales, celebrated those who have shown love and kindness in their communities, offering a reflective moment for attendees.
