Princess of Wales says every light is a memory in powerful new video
Princess Catherine has shared a heartfelt new video with fans, thanking everyone who helped bring a moving London art installation to life. The Princess of Wales spoke about the Ever After Garden, a glowing winter display on Kings Road that features more than 30,000 illuminated white roses. It’s currently raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and the royals are right behind it.
In a post shared on Instagram, the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote: “Thank you to all those who have contributed to the Ever After Garden, which raises vital funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Every flower, every light, is a memory held together, an illumination of shared love, remembrance, and hope.”
Their message comes not long after major updates on both the King’s and Catherine’s cancer journeys. King Charles, who was diagnosed back in February 2024 after a hospital visit for an enlarged prostate, is now scaling back treatment. And earlier this year, Princess Catherine revealed her own cancer diagnosis after undergoing abdominal surgery. She’s since completed preventive chemotherapy and shared the news of her remission in January.
Designed by Anya Hindmarch, the Ever After Garden is free to visit and continues to raise funds for cancer care through rose dedications. You can still catch it at Duke of York Square green until Tuesday, December 16. Since opening in 2019, it has brought in more than £1.2 million for the cause.
Plenty of visitors have shared how much the garden means to them. Brittany Kooienga wrote: “Such a beautiful garden for an incredibly important cause.” @jodisuejessupwilson commented: “Truly beautiful, thank you.” And @sempiternalviews added: “We visited London last year at Christmas. The Ever After Garden was on our list of things to see and do. It was all I expected. A wonderful and meaningful experience.”
The King has also been urging men to get checked for prostate cancer. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said they’ve been “delighted by the scale and sensitivity of the worldwide media reaction” and added, “I know His Majesty will be greatly encouraged and deeply touched by the very positive reaction his message has generated.”
