Royal Expert Warns of Fresh Controversy as Prince Harry’s Spare Paperback Hits Shelves

Prince Harry’s recently released paperback edition of his memoir Spare has drawn scrutiny from royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, who suggested the book may carry a veiled threat directed at King Charles. Fitzwilliams shared his insights, noting both the nuances of Harry’s latest actions and the broader implications for the royal family.

Fitzwilliams remarked on the potential risks surrounding the release of the paperback, highlighting that while no new content was added, the context of the memoir remains controversial. According to GB News, Fitzwilliams observed, “One thing one has to say about the paperback of Spare — at least it didn’t include anything new.”

He pointed out that Harry previously claimed to have cut around 400 pages from the original version due to sensitive material, which Fitzwilliams described as “a nasty threat,” hinting at what could be revealed if Harry chose to revisit those pages in the future.

Unlike the original release, Harry did not conduct interviews or other promotional events for the paperback, which Fitzwilliams acknowledged was “at least a relief.” Despite the subdued rollout, the expert questioned how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent focus on solo ventures could affect their public and private dynamics.

Fitzwilliams commented, “Whenever they’re silent or doing their own thing, and recently doing it quite successfully solo, we wonder where all this will lead.” The expert also connected Harry’s paperback release to recent developments in his strained relationship with his brother, Prince William. Notably, Prince William recently mentioned Harry for the first time in six years, referring to the “significant” impact of their ongoing rift.

Fitzwilliams pointed out that William’s mention of Harry appears in a forthcoming ITV documentary, focused on a 1993 visit to a homeless shelter, The Passage, with their mother, Princess Diana. “The fact that in a documentary to be shown on ITV this week, we’ve got William mentioning Harry for the first time in six years — that is extraordinary,” Fitzwilliams said.

As Spare continues to influence public discourse around the royal family, Fitzwilliams’ comments reflect broader questions about how much of Harry’s life will remain in the public eye and whether he will ever revisit the parts of his story he chose to keep private.
