Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Against the World
It’s been the rogue royals against the world since Prince Harry confirmed his relationship with American actress Meghan Markle in 2016.
Observant eyes from all around the world were eager to watch and examine the couple’s every action. Despite all of the attention and criticism, Harry and Meghan have stayed committed to one another.
In 2016, Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 40, made their relationship official. They fell in love quickly and married on May 19, 2018, just two years later.
The following year, On May 6th, 2019, the eternally devoted couple welcomed their first son, Archie, into the world. Lilibet Diana, the rogue royals’ second child, and first daughter was born two years later, on June 4th, 2021.
Without context, it appears to be a rather ordinary love story. But, of course, that is not the case. The royal pair has faced a barrage of criticism from the press, royal fans, and even the monarchy itself throughout their relationship.
While failing to win the approval of a big percentage of the nation would threaten to undo a lot of couples, it appears to have ignited a spark between Harry and Meghan, whose love remains unwavering as they face the criticism together.
Meghan & Harry Against the Press:
Harry and Meghan were already fighting a battle from the minute they started dating. In a formal statement issued on the royal family website on November 8th, 2016, Prince Harry acknowledged his relationship with American actress Meghan Markle.
The press release felt more like a rebuke to the probing press who were breaking lines left, right, and center to get a scoop, rather than being a lovely, changing your Facebook status to “in a relationship” kind moment. – the source states.
“His (Prince Harry’s) girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment”. – the statement read.
The statement continued: “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.”
So, even from the start, Harry was commissioning protocol-breaking remarks to protect his sweetheart, demonstrating that he had no qualms about breaking rules for love.
The Couple VS Prince William
While Harry was besotted with Meghan, apparently William had his reservations about how quickly things were moving between the couple – and he told his little brother as much once Meghan had returned to her home country of Canada.
According to The Sun, a source revealed: “William told his brother that they knew nothing about her background, her intentions, what she was really like.”
“He just wanted to stress that becoming part of the Royal family is a massive undertaking and the pressure and scrutiny is unrelenting. Was Meghan the right one?”
“He accused his brother of trying to finish his romance before it had begun. The brothers’ relationship has not really recovered.” – the same source claimed.
Meghan & Harry VS. Royal Names
The royal observers were stunned, to say the least when Harry and Meghan chose the name Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor for their baby boy.
“I don’t think anyone of us saw either of these names coming,” managing editor of Majesty magazine Joe Little said.
He explained that, as far as he knew, the names Archie and Harrison had no British royal overtones.
When Harry and Meghan announced the birth of their second child, they named her Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor; Lilibet, or Lili for short, is an ode to Her Majesty the Queen’s nickname, and Diana is a tribute to Harry’s late mother.
The Sussexes further separated themselves by giving their children such royally unconventional names, demonstrating their determination to make their own rules.
Against Their Royal Jobs:
According to the source New Idea, the couple handed in their resignation letters at the same time, after 35 years in the only profession he’s ever known and four years in Meghan’s new role as a princess.
Indeed, in January 2020, it was revealed that Harry and Meghan will be stepping down from their royal duties in an official statement posted to the royal family’s website, a move that has become known as “Megxit.”
“With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.” the statement read.
The Sussexes were left to their ways after their bank account was slashed, and they fled to California to establish their career.
Despite the continued criticism, the Sussexes appear to be stronger than ever as they pursue their path away from the royals, demonstrating that nothing can break them as long as they have each other.
