Prince Andrew’s Latest Scandal Has Left The Queen “Vulnerable”

But one royal watcher is not content to let sleeping dogs in the shade lay and is going on the offensive about Andrew. According to Graham Smith, the CEO of Republic, Andrew’s baggage continues to negatively affect the monarchy making it “vulnerable.”

Smith is an anti-monarchist and according to him, the Royal Family can be, “pushed over” once the queen is, “out of the way.” He’s not unbiased here as his group’s mission is the abolition of the monarchy. Still, he may have a point about Prince Andrew’s toxicity.

He went into detail on the Republic podcast as to why Andrew’s Jeffrey Epstein scandal could be a turning point for the monarchy. “The monarchy has always been highly protected well up to the 80s,” he said. “I mean it still is to some extent, but not to a large one. So for most of the democratic modern era, the Queen’s been there, protecting.”

“It seems to me that it’s incredibly vulnerable because of the damage done by Andrew. As well as the impact of their poor decisions in regards to Harry and Meghan.”

He went on to say, “Certainly over the last 10 years, a number of times people have said they like the Queen, but can’t stand the rest of them. I’d be very rich if I had a pound for every time someone said that. It’s not going to fall over just like that.”

He also offered his opinion on how they confront problems saying, “If they’re left to their own devices, they will fix a crisis and cover it up and move on. That’s why it’s about building the momentum to push it over when the time comes. I think it’s going to be a lot easier to push over when the Queen’s out of the way.”

His words will not go over well with fans of the queen and the monarchy. But Andrew’s situation is far from resolved. He backed down from public life and royal duties for the “foreseeable future” in 2019 after a disastrous BBC interview in which he tried to clear the air over his connection to Epstein.

Epstein was arrested following allegations that he was trafficking underage girls and died in prison. Of Epstein, Andrew said he did not, “see, witness or suspect any suspicious behavior.”
