Prince Andrew’s Downfall Traced back to ignoring Crucial advice say Insiders
0Prince Andrew’s once-respected royal image took a major hit after his disastrous Newsnight interview, and according to those close to him, it was his own decisions that sealed his fate. Despite the guidance from Buckingham Palace and his legal team, Andrew chose to move forward with the interview, ignoring the advice of those who knew the media landscape far better.
Paul Tweed, a close friend of the Duke of York, claimed in his new book that the situation could have been avoided had the palace and his legal advisors acted differently. However, journalist Lee Cohen offered a different perspective, suggesting that Andrew’s stubbornness played a pivotal role in his downfall.
“Andrew wasn’t let down by Buckingham Palace. He let himself down,” Cohen told GB News, highlighting that the royal was “strongly advised against participating in the Newsnight interview.”
Instead of heeding that advice, Andrew reportedly ignored warnings from his advisors. Cohen emphasized that the Duke’s failure to adequately prepare for the interview resulted in a public relations disaster. “Rather than being let down, he chose to ignore the guidance from those who understood the media landscape better,” Cohen added.
The repercussions of Andrew’s poor decisions were severe. The interview not only brought public scrutiny on his long-standing relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein but also opened up more criticism regarding his alleged involvement with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of raping her on three occasions when she was a minor. Though Andrew later settled the case with Giuffre, without admitting guilt, the damage was done. In 2019, he was stripped of his royal titles and patronages, and his reputation was left in tatters.
Andrew’s troubles, however, did not end there. His relationship with his brother, King Charles, has reportedly become strained as well. The Duke of York is currently involved in a tense dispute over his living arrangements. Having been asked to leave his 30-bedroom Royal Lodge and move to Frogmore Cottage, Andrew remains defiant, refusing to budge. This growing tension with King Charles has only further isolated the shamed royal, whose future within the monarchy now seems increasingly uncertain.
In the end, Prince Andrew’s refusal to listen to key advice—both during the infamous interview and in the years that followed—has left him in a precarious position, both within his family and in the eyes of the public.
