So Important to the Investigation”: Police Continue Searches in Stuart Everett Murder Case

Police searches are set to continue “over the coming days” as new scenes have been identified in the ongoing murder investigation into the death of Stuart Everett, via Mirror. The 67-year-old Salford man, described by his family as “unique and endearing,” is believed to have died in a house in Winton, Salford, at the end of March this year.

A major investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police after parts of Mr. Everett’s body were discovered at Kersal Dale on April 4. His lower back, buttocks, and thigh were found wrapped in cellophane at the nature reserve. Further remains were subsequently uncovered at Blackleach Reservoir in Walkden, Linneyshaw Colliery Wood between Walkden and Swinton, and in an alleyway close to the railway lines off Worsley Road in Winton.

Two men, Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski, 68, and Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, have been charged with Mr. Everett’s murder. Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Thursday (May 16) that a number of fresh searches were underway in connection with the murder probe, with scenes expected to remain in place for several days.

Officers from the Tactical Aid Unit (TAU), forensics, and underwater search teams have been deployed to the scenes amid ongoing investigations. Police stated that the new searches are a result of “in-depth CCTV and phone data inquiries that the detectives have located during the investigation”, via BBC.

Boggart Hole Clough in Blackley was completely taped off throughout Thursday, with all entrances to the park blocked and a heavy police presence at the scene. Police activity continued into the afternoon as parents walked by with their young children. Teenagers wanting to visit a local play park were also turned away by officers as more police vehicles and plain-clothed detectives arrived.

Officers also spent the day conducting searches on land near Walkden Train Station. An area close to Patricroft Railway Station will be searched by British Transport Police officers, with a scene expected to remain in place for several days.

Polchowski and Majerkiewicz, both of Worsley Road, Eccles, are due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on July 18, when they are expected to enter their plea. Both have been remanded in custody.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes from GMP’s Serious Crime Division and Senior Investigating Officer emphasized the importance of the ongoing searches. He stated, “The scenes that we will be searching over the coming days have come to our attention through some exceptional detective work conducted by the investigation team. We know there will be some disruption to the local community as a result of searching other locations, but it is so important that we do this, we need to be able to provide Stuart’s family with the information they need to process this news.”

He continued, “Our investigation is ongoing, we still have a lot of work to do and I hope the public can see the dedication and compassion that continues to be shown across the force by officers and staff who are either keeping the scene secure, searching for evidence, or investigating this behind the scenes – we all have our part to play in getting justice for Stuart’s family and every search we conduct is one step closer to finding answers for them.”
