Female Police Officer Fired for Groping Two Colleagues at Drunken Party

A female police officer has been dismissed after groping two colleagues during a drunken leaving party in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, in March 2024. PC Pamela Pritchard, 29, was found guilty of gross misconduct after engaging in inappropriate behavior toward her colleagues while intoxicated.

At the misconduct hearing, it was revealed that PC Pritchard, who had joined North Wales Police as a trainee in 2023, groped a male colleague’s groin twice and later sat on his knee and kissed him during the party at Caernarfon Rugby Club. She also grabbed a female colleague’s breasts after “twerking” on the dance floor and attempted to kiss a senior officer.

The panel in Colwyn Bay, Conwy, found all the allegations against her proven and concluded that her actions breached the force’s standards of behavior. PC Pritchard admitted that her behavior was inappropriate but denied that it constituted gross misconduct. She expressed regret, stating she was “mortified” upon seeing footage of herself on CCTV, but she remembered little of the events due to her drunken state, according to WalesOnline.

The four-day hearing detailed accounts from several officers who were present at the party. One male officer, referred to as “PC B,” testified that PC Pritchard grabbed his genitals both inside the club and outside in the smoking area, causing him to feel “humiliated.” He also described an incident when PC Pritchard sat on his lap and kissed him on the lips, saying, “It was not appropriate, this was in public. Her behaviour was becoming more and more unacceptable.”

Further evidence was presented through CCTV footage showing PC Pritchard “twerking” on the dance floor in suggestive movements. A female officer, “Police Constable A,” also testified that PC Pritchard approached her from behind, placed her arms around her neck, and grabbed her breasts. PC Pritchard apologized to PC A, acknowledging that her behavior was “inappropriate” and that she had “never acted like that before.”

In emotional testimony, PC Pritchard said, “I’m absolutely mortified at what’s happened. I don’t recognize the person I see on that CCTV. All I can do is apologize.” She added that she had been experiencing “panic and nightmares” and felt that people “thought I was a sexual predator.”

The panel, chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Chris Allsop, concluded that the misconduct was of medium to high seriousness and justified dismissal. “All the allegations against PC Pritchard have been proven,” Allsop stated. He added that the behavior “fell far below the standard we expect of our police officers.”

While PC Pritchard’s defense argued that her actions were brief and there was no risk of recurrence, North Wales Police’s Deputy Chief Constable Nigel Harrison affirmed that her behavior was “simply not acceptable by anyone’s standards.” PC Pritchard was dismissed from the force, ending her brief career with North Wales Police and preventing her from serving with any other UK force.
