Piers Morgan Reveals Stunning Aussie Turnout for King Charles and Queen Camilla

King Charles III’s recent tour of Australia has been widely regarded as a success, with the monarch receiving an outpouring of love and support from locals. Despite some heckling at the parliament, the trip has been praised for drawing large, enthusiastic crowds, according to former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan.

Reflecting on the royal visit, Morgan shared his thoughts, stating, “Aussie people didn’t get the royal-bashing memo, and in a stunning outpouring of joyful support, out they came in huge numbers at the iconic Sydney Opera House to pay tribute to King Charles and Queen Camilla on the final day of their short but historic trip.”

Writing in The Sun, Morgan highlighted the remarkable turnout: “More than 10,000 people from all over the country appeared in glorious sunshine to greet their royal visitors, far more than had been anticipated, and to be honest, far more than I feared would be the case.”

This tour marks King Charles’ first official visit to Australia as monarch since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Many skeptics had predicted that the global popularity of the monarchy would decline without the steadfast presence of the late Queen. As Morgan noted, “It was the first by a British monarch since the death of Queen Elizabeth II and many doom-sayers assumed that royal popularity would have inevitably plummeted around the world without the late, great rock of the Monarchy,”

Morgan also touched on the growing republican sentiment in Australia, where calls for the country to become a republic have been more pronounced in recent years. However, the large, jubilant crowds during the King’s tour defied those predictions. “Especially in Commonwealth countries like Australia where the nasty whiff of republicanism has grown more pungent in recent years. But as these jubilant crowds proved, they were all spectacularly wrong,” Morgan concluded.

The King’s visit, though brief, has successfully reaffirmed the royal family’s popularity in Australia, dispelling concerns that support for the monarchy might falter following the Queen’s death.
