Former Hollyoaks star Paul Danan tragically passed away earlier this week following a fatal accident at a luxury apartment near Bristol. The 46-year-old actor, known for his vibrant personality and television roles, reportedly slipped and fell at a property in Brislington on Wednesday evening. Paramedics were called to the scene, but tragically, Danan was pronounced dead.
The property where Danan was found is a Grade II listed building that was once a Georgian asylum. It boasts luxurious amenities, including a swimming pool, gym, and tennis court, all set within 10 acres of picturesque grounds. News of his untimely death was confirmed by his management on Thursday, who fondly remembered the actor as a “beacon of light,” admired for his “television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness.”
In the wake of his passing, Danan’s friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his young son, DeNiro, who is just nine years old. The goal is to raise £10,000 to help ease the boy’s journey through this difficult time. As of now, the fundraiser has garnered £3,500 in donations, with more than 100 supporters contributing. Among those who have shown their support are several of Danan’s former Hollyoaks co-stars, including Ali Bastian, who donated £100, told GB News.
A source close to the actor revealed that DeNiro was Danan’s “proudest achievement.” The source shared, “While he didn’t see him every day because he co-parented him with his ex, Paul always looked forward to his weekends spent on dad duty.” On social media, Danan often expressed his deep love for his son, sharing heartfelt posts like, “My life, my world, my everything,” and in a 2023 birthday message, “I love you so so so much and want to be with you every day… Always and forever Daddy.”
The GoFundMe page has been flooded with touching tributes to the actor, with one message stating, “There was NO ONE like Pauly. His excitement and vitality for life were magnetic. He was warm, kind, funny—actually hilarious, vulnerable, self-deprecating, and captivating.”
Actress Sadie Frost and Hollyoaks star Hannah Curtis were among those who donated. Frost contributed £30, writing, “Oh Pauly… I am so sad.. I loved you very much and so did Raff who always valued your friendship – big kisses forever and rest in peace, my love.” Curtis, who matched Frost’s donation, described Danan as “kind” and noted, “He made me laugh. Sending love to his friends and family.”
At the time of his death, Danan had reportedly been living in a “dry house” in Bristol, working on overcoming his addiction struggles. His passing is not being treated as suspicious, and Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they had attended the property around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. A spokesperson for the police stated, “His family has been notified and our thoughts are with them. They have asked for people to respect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
The actor’s death has left his family and friends in deep mourning, with the legacy of his warmth and humor living on through the love and support of those who knew him best.
