Did Keir Starmer Lie His Way Into Power?” GB News Host Patrick Christys Slams Labour Leader

GB News presenter Patrick Christys has launched a sharp critique of Labour leader Keir Starmer, questioning his integrity over explanations from his legal career and his stance on immigration policy. Christys focused on Starmer’s frequent invocation of the “cab rank rule” to defend his representation of controversial clients during his time as a barrister.

On air, Patrick challenged the credibility of Starmer’s claims. “Starmer gets away with saying that he’s managed to represent some of the world’s biggest wrong-uns by the cab rank rule, saying he didn’t have a choice,” Patrick said. “But I was speaking with a lawyer, quite high-profile, who said that’s not actually really accurate. If you’re any good as a lawyer, you can talk your way out of it”, reported by GB News.

Patrick elaborated on the implications of this, suggesting that Starmer may have willingly taken on such cases. “Just say things like, ‘I’m going on holiday,’ or ‘My workload is too much.’ It casts doubt on whether or not Keir Starmer really wanted to represent those people.”

He linked these concerns to Starmer’s leadership, particularly on immigration. “Now people look at the immigration situation and think, hang on a minute, do you actually want to get tough on it? There is a lack of believability. He’s lied his way into Downing Street, some people would say.”

The remarks come amid mounting pressure on Starmer from his party’s pro-Brexit MPs. A newly formed group, the Red Wall Caucus, comprising 35 MPs from the North and Midlands, is calling for a tougher stance on immigration to retain key constituencies. Jonathan Hinder, Labour MP for Pendle and Clitheroe, stated, “The British people want our borders secure and net migration brought down after the Tories totally lost control.”

Another MP stressed the importance of transparency, saying, “I feel that we’ve come into Government focusing on doing the job, rather than on how we inform people of what we’re doing.”

Patrick’s fiery comments have intensified scrutiny on Starmer’s leadership, as questions about his legal career and approach to immigration continue to dominate the political conversation.
