‘What a blessing that is’ North Carolina Mom Wins $161K Lottery on Daughter’s Birthday
A birthday celebration turned into something unforgettable for one North Carolina family when a mom hit the jackpot—literally.
Linda Rogers of Denton reportedly said she stopped by the Mobil Mart on East Salisbury Street on Saturday, which also happened to be her daughter’s birthday. While there, she reportedly bought a $2 Fast Play ticket for the “10X The Cash” game. That small purchase ended up being worth a whole lot more.
The ticket was a jackpot winner for an incredible $161,929.
“What a blessing that is,” Rogers told officials with the North Carolina Education Lottery.
She said winning on her daughter’s special day made it even more meaningful. “I’ve been wishing for a win like this,” she said. “This is life-changing for me.”
Rogers shared that she plans to use the money to buy a new car and will be sharing her prize with her family—especially the birthday girl.
“It still hasn’t set in yet,” she said.
The surprise win was part of the North Carolina Education Lottery’s Fast Play series, which offers instant prizes with no need for drawings. Tickets like the one Rogers bought can be played and cashed in on the spot.
