Nik and Eva Speakman Reflect on ‘This Morning’ Experience Amid Host Changes

This Morning stars Nik and Eva Speakman have become familiar faces on the ITV talk show over the years, helping countless viewers overcome phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. As the show underwent a significant host shake-up following the departure of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in 2023, the Speakmans witnessed the influx of new presenters who stepped in before permanent replacements were chosen.

During this transitional period, This Morning featured a variety of guest hosts, including Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark, Emma Willis, Davina McCall, and Rochelle Humes. After five months of rotating hosts, ITV bosses ultimately decided that Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard made the best on-screen partnership, told Daily Express.

Nik Speakman recently shared his thoughts on working with the new hosts during a fear of flying therapy session in partnership with Love Holidays. Reflecting on the ever-changing lineup, he remarked, “If you look at This Morning as a whole, it’s always different. On a Friday, it was Ruth [Langsford] and Eamonn [Holmes], and now it’s Dermott [O’Leary] and Alison [Hammond], and then over the holidays, it’s different people. Do you know what? It’s always the same, and everyone has always been so lovely.”

Nik, who has appeared on the show with his wife Eva since 2010, emphasized the welcoming atmosphere of the program, saying, “We’ve been on the show since 2010, but everyone’s just so lovely.” He further explained that their long-standing relationship with ITV made the transition smoother, noting, “I suppose the thing is, because we’ve done a lot of other shows on ITV, we know people. We didn’t know Cat before she came on the show—of course, she was in America—but we’ve worked with Ben several times on different things, so everyone’s great.”

More recently, Nik and Eva joined Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond on This Morning to help viewers confront their summer fears, which ranged from lolly sticks to seaweed and hotel bedding. The Speakmans’ continued presence on the show highlights their enduring connection with both the audience and the ever-evolving cast of hosts.
