Nigel Farage Stuns Supporters by Announcing Famous Boxer as Reform UK Candidate

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has revealed the party’s candidate for the Hull and East Riding mayoral election, former professional boxer Luke Campbell. Farage announced a rally in Hull, where he delivered a speech to supporters.

Earlier, the Clacton MP had hinted at having a “knockout candidate” for the upcoming election on May 1, with Campbell emerging as the figurehead for the party’s bid in the region. Campbell, a well-known name in the world of boxing, brings a high-profile sports background to Reform UK’s political campaign, which aims to challenge established political norms, reported the Express.

Reform UK, which currently boasts five Members of Parliament, has seen a surge in national opinion polls, positioning the party as a growing political force. Farage’s endorsement of Campbell is part of a broader strategy to gain influence in local and regional elections.

The announcement follows the earlier naming of former Conservative MP Dame Andrea Jenkyns as Reform’s candidate for the Lincolnshire mayoral election, signaling the party’s intent to field prominent figures across various key electoral races.

Farage’s rally and the unveiling of Campbell as a candidate highlight Reform UK’s ambitions as it seeks to make a more substantial impact on the national political landscape. With several local elections on the horizon, the party appears poised to continue building momentum under Farage’s leadership.
