Mum beaten by narcissistic partner fears for her life as release date looms
A mum-of-three has shared her heartbreaking ordeal after surviving three years of abuse at the hands of her partner, saying her life became a “living nightmare” she’s now desperate to escape.
Sharon Annoscia, 53, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, met Lucasz Janiec, a Polish builder, when he was working next door. Still grieving the loss of her husband, she never imagined that the man who offered comfort would turn her world upside down, reported the Mirror.
At first, she believed she’d found happiness again. “I was about to turn 50,” she said, “and I thought I had a life to look forward to.” But within a year, things spiralled. He didn’t find a job like he’d promised. Instead, she came home from work to find him drinking, making excuses, and draining her emotionally and financially.
Over three years, Sharon says her £12,000 savings vanished. Then came the insults, the manipulation, and the threats. “You’re worthless and nobody will want you” became his daily chorus. The abuse escalated to violence. “I would wake up after he had knocked me out with his foot on my head and a cord around my neck,” she said.
The final straw came when, after enduring a vicious beating, she knew her neighbour was nearby and would call for help. “It hurt like hell, but I just wanted him gone,” she recalled. The police were called, and Janiec was arrested and later jailed for 17 weeks after pleading guilty to assault by beating.
Now, with his release due in June, Sharon is terrified. “He’s due to be released soon, and I need to get out of this house and away from the area so he cannot find me,” she said. “I have no financial support. Anything would be a blessing.”
She’s set up a fundraising page in the hope of starting fresh elsewhere, away from North Staffordshire and the fear of being found.
Sharon’s story is one of survival, but it’s also a chilling reminder of how quickly love can turn into control, and control into violence. She’s now calling for more awareness around narcissistic abuse, saying: “Nobody should have to go through what I have. I know there are lots of men and women still going through this nightmare that we mistakenly took as love.”
Her bravery in speaking out is not only helping her heal — it’s giving a voice to countless others still suffering in silence.
