Mother and Son Persist in Covid Lockdown Mode: Diligently Washing Groceries and Maintaining Social Distance

Mandy and Mason Milne persist in adhering to stringent COVID lockdown protocols, continuing to wash their groceries, and upholding social distancing practices. Their routine mirrors that of the early pandemic era, emphasizing caution and vigilance.

Despite the passage of time, Mandy, 59, and her son Mason, 22, remain dedicated to the safety measures implemented during the initial lockdown in 2020. Their daily regimen includes thorough handwashing, maintaining a two-meter distance, limiting social interactions, and wearing masks in crowded settings, told “Daily Mirror“.

Mandy, supported by her husband Gordon, 59, opts for online grocery shopping to minimize exposure, meticulously sanitizing every item upon arrival to their Essex home. This meticulous approach stems from Mason’s compromised immune system due to his diagnosis of Crohn’s disease in 2017, which necessitates daily chemotherapy and biologic injections.

Mason’s vulnerability to severe illness from COVID amplifies the family’s caution, prompting them to eschew unnecessary risks and prioritize safety above all else. The pandemic’s enduring threat has upended their lives, particularly affecting Mason’s social interactions and daily activities.

For Mason, once an active young man enjoying social gatherings and pursuing personal interests, the pandemic has drastically restricted his lifestyle. His outings now consist of solitary walks, meticulously planned to avoid any potential exposure, accompanied by thorough sanitization measures.

Despite these challenges, Mason remains connected to the world through his podcast catering to individuals with Crohn’s disease and autism, as well as his passion for Doctor Who. However, even his favorite pastime of attending football matches requires stringent precautions and modifications to ensure safety.

The Milne family’s commitment to maintaining a semblance of normalcy amidst the ongoing pandemic underscores their resilience and determination. While navigating the complexities of daily life under heightened risk, they advocate for greater awareness and understanding of the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable individuals like Mason.
