Beloved Coventry Mother-of-Five Passes Away at 53 After Unexpected Unconscious Episode

Heartfelt tributes are pouring in following the sudden and tragic demise of Irene Mayunga Disala, a beloved mother-of-five from Coventry who passed away earlier this month at the tender age of 53. Originally hailing from the Republic of Congo, Irene moved to England in the 1990s, dedicating her life to selflessly serving others, earning her the endearing title of ‘a giving soul’ by her grieving family.

Despite residing in London, Irene decided to relocate to Coventry in 2003. Her son, Marvin Bunkete, fondly remembers her as a woman with ‘the biggest heart,’ tirelessly committed to aiding those in need, often working ceaselessly. Irene served as a healthcare manager for the care firm Getta Life in Radford, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her profession.

Tragically, Irene met her untimely end while on duty, driving along the A452 Kenilworth Road en route to Royal Leamington Spa. According to Marvin, she ‘fell unconscious at the wheel’ on Tuesday, January 2. The details of her cause of death are yet to be confirmed, but the circumstances surrounding the incident have been described as her car veering off into oncoming traffic, narrowly avoiding a collision before eventually going down an embankment into a ditch, told Coventry Telegraph.

Speaking with CoventryLive, Marvin shared the heart-wrenching details of his mother’s last moments, recounting how she was transporting a patient back to Leamington when the tragic incident occurred. The community has rallied around the grieving family, with an outpouring of support and fond memories shared by those who knew Irene. The condolences have been particularly moving for Marvin, who expressed surprise at the numerous individuals from the Congo community in the UK paying their respects.

In reminiscing about Irene, Marvin painted a vivid picture of a mother who consistently went above and beyond. The suddenness of her departure has left him grappling with disbelief, contemplating the messages exchanged just days before the New Year and the unfulfilled plans to visit her.

In response to the unforeseen costs incurred by Irene’s passing, a crowdfunding page was initiated to aid her loved ones. The GoFundMe campaign, with a target of £15,000, has already garnered substantial support from contributors keen on assisting the family during this challenging time. The overwhelming response reflects the impact Irene had on the lives of those around her and the deep sense of loss experienced by the community she served with compassion and dedication. Donations can be made via GoFundMe to support the grieving family.
