Molly-Mae Hague Horrified as Cosmetic Treatment Side Effect Leads to ‘Full Beard’

Molly-Mae Hague has shared a brutally honest warning with her followers about a beauty treatment she wishes she had never started. The former Love Island star, 25, took to Instagram to talk about her experience with dermaplaning—a treatment designed to exfoliate the skin and remove fine facial hair—but for her, it ended up being more of a curse than a beauty hack.

Dermaplaning involves using a sterile scalpel to scrape away dead skin cells and tiny hairs, often referred to as “peach fuzz.” It’s meant to leave the skin smoother and brighter, but according to Molly-Mae, it’s also a bit of a trap, reports the Mirror.

The mum-of-one, who shares daughter Bambi with ex-Tommy Fury, revealed that once you start, it’s difficult to stop. She posted images from a recent session, showing a surprising amount of fine hair removed from her face. “The trap is so real,” she wrote. “Look at the amount of fuzz that comes off my face when I get it done… because I leave it so long deciding if I want to do it again or not.”

She later shared a snap of her glowing, freshly dermaplaned skin, admitting that while the feeling afterward is great, the downside of regrowth keeps her second-guessing the treatment, according to the Daily Record.

This isn’t the first time Molly-Mae has spoken out about the unintended effects of dermaplaning. Back in 2022, during a makeup tutorial on her YouTube channel, she warned fans about the long-term consequences, admitting she regretted ever starting the treatment.

“If you guys can see that I do have a little bit of a beard, we’re not talking about it,” she joked at the time. “I need to speak to you guys about my battle with dermaplaning—I just wish I never got it done. I basically have a full beard now.”

She explained that, despite claims that dermaplaning slows down hair regrowth, she found that her facial hair grew back faster and thicker. “It was meant to sort of prevent it from growing back and mean that it would grow back less—but with any hair removal, like when you shave your legs, it means you have to start shaving them more,” she said.

Molly-Mae admitted she’s not someone who likes to keep up with high-maintenance beauty treatments, making dermaplaning an even bigger regret. “It’s just one of those things—once you start doing it, you can’t really stop,” she added.

The influencer has been open in the past about reversing her cosmetic treatments, having dissolved her lip and facial fillers in 2020 after realising she had gone too far. She confessed she had almost “destroyed” her face and was relieved to have stepped away from the pressures of cosmetic enhancements.

Now, it seems dermaplaning is another beauty decision she wishes she had avoided. Her advice? Think twice before starting it—because once you do, you might be stuck with it.
