Migrants Boast About Hotel Life on TikTok as Brits Face Soaring Bills

Shocking new footage has surfaced online showing Channel-crossing migrants boasting about enjoying life in taxpayer-funded hotels — as millions of hardworking Brits are left reeling from rising living costs and tax hikes.
In a TikTok video uncovered by The Sun, two men are seen relaxing in a hotel room, flaunting a large flat-screen TV while captions in Albanian brazenly advertise illegal crossings into the UK as “100 per cent guaranteed.” The men reportedly paid £3,000 each to smugglers to make the perilous journey across the Channel — a price that seems to come with all the comforts of a hotel stay once they arrive.
One of the men can be heard saying, “Respects. They did bring us to London,” a line that has sparked outrage among UK taxpayers footing the bill. Government figures show that the UK spent £5.38 billion last year on asylum seeker accommodation and support, with the number of migrants housed in hotels rising by 8,000 since Sir Keir Starmer took office.
The timing couldn’t be worse. On the same day the video surfaced, millions of UK households were hit with increased energy bills and employer tax rises, set to leave the average family £4,500 worse off over this Parliament.
The clip is just one example of a broader issue — criminal smuggling gangs increasingly turning to social media to promote their services. In the same video, another message reads: “Every day journey on small boats. Security 100 per cent. Payment £3000, when you arrive in the UK. Brothers who wants to go get in touch and we sent you directly.”
At a two-day illegal migration summit in London, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer acknowledged the UK has long been perceived as a “soft touch” and vowed to change that. He declared: “Illegal migration is a massive driver of global insecurity. It undermines our ability to control who comes here. And that makes people angry. It makes me angry, frankly, because it’s unfair on ordinary working people who pay the price, from the cost of hotels to our public services struggling under the strain.”
He added, “There is nothing progressive or compassionate about turning a blind eye”, condemning those who give false hope to vulnerable people.
Despite his tough stance, critics argue not enough is being done. A record 6,642 migrants have already arrived in 119 boats this year — a 43% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Last month alone, more than 4,000 people made the crossing.
Smugglers are said to be disguising their TikTok posts as news content to avoid being detected and removed. While social media companies like Meta, X, and TikTok have promised to crack down, government leaders are demanding more.
Border Security Minister Dame Angela Eagle stated bluntly: “For too long, the UK has been a soft touch on this. While the last government were busy with their Rwanda gimmick, they left the door wide open for illegal working.”
Despite government claims of “taking back control,” critics like Reform UK’s Nigel Farage are unconvinced. “He promised to smash the gangs,” Farage said of Starmer, “but he’s smashing Rishi Sunak’s record instead.”
With smugglers still promoting their services and migrants openly flaunting the results online, many are asking: will the government’s crackdown finally deliver real results — or are British taxpayers being taken for fools?
